Anonymous: Write a longer description of soundwave? I'm going to the sydney one! :3
Okay. Beware. I just need to document that day.
I got to my friend’s house because him and his friend were suppose to give me a lift up to Soundwave. Turns out he was vomiting all night and he couldn’t go, so his friend still offered to drive me and Charlotte to Robina. It was amazing seeing all the people getting on at Robina all ready for Soundwave. You could just tell, and as more and more people got on, the anticipation was building.
We arrived late. So I missed nevershoutnever (how lame, don’t player hate) and the start of Breathe Carolina but I caught the end of Idgaf. I found Shawna (flaffy, or whatever the hell it is now)and Teagan (idrownedmyselfinyoureyes) and Rikki (-thefinalepisode) and Sabrina. We all freaked out.
I swear to God, Soundwave is filled with the most beautiful people you’ve ever met.
Anyways. There was a gap after Breathe so I went and got my merch. I got a purple The Maine tee and a ginomous, white Soundwave singlet that was size medium. The line was massive so by the time I got my shirts, We The Kings were starting soon so we got a mid to back spot. They were amazing and Travis was so sweet. They played Secret Valentine and I pre’ much died. And the part where he was like, repeat after me.
I. Think. This. Show. Would be so much better if we played Check Yes Juliet. And I died all over again.
I got second row for I See Stars because we went early with Teagan. Andy came on and started setting shit up. Me and Teagan called out his name and waved. Jimmy was adorable. And the guy on the synths and doing the screamo parts was adorable as well. And Devin. Fuck. Also before. When I was walking over to Breathe, I saw Devin walking and there was a moment of star struckness. Anyway. Eye contact was made with those three babes. Touched Devin. We were going to wait at that stage so we could get spots for The Rocket Summer, but we were like fuck it, want to go meet Devin Oliver. So we met him, got a hug, a picture and he signed my Soundwave ticket.
I didn’t even end up seeing Blessthefall :( We went to the markets and we’d lost Charlotte by then. Shawna bought some Manic Panic and I bought a I <3 Boobies bracelet. I saw a ‘Legit’ one but it was ten and I needed train money.
Me and Shawna went over to watch New Found Glory play but they were running late and there was a shitload of people there. Apparently they played Kiss Me which I would’ve loved to see. So we walked away and watched Silvestein play for a bit before heading back to stages 5.
Watched a bit of There For Tomorrow. They were pretty alright. Every Avenue was playing but I was pretty chill on just chilling because I wasn’t following them too closely but then. They announced. That they’d be playing A Story To Tell Your Friends. I screamed and went over. And they were actually pretty good, I must say.
THEN. It was 30 Seconds To Mars. It was kinda surreal, someone so famous, but it so good. The Kill, ugh <3. Jared was throwing buckets of water and popsicles at the crowd. Including the actual bucket. The chick sitting next to me on the train back and Holly’s cousin were to picked to get up on stage. There were so many people there. But as soon as 30 finished. We ran back to stages 5 so I could get a good spot for The Maine. Some Foxy Shazam were playing. There was some weird guy with no hair on his head but a beard playing piano and he’d put the towel on his face and, whatever, their finale was pretty good not matter how weird.
But it seemed that people had the same idea because I got second and a half row and there were people starting to wait. The band over at 5b started playing and eventually Pat came out to set up the drums. Sabrina, Teagan’s friend gave up her spot for me because she was a little bit closer, so I was second row, instead of second and a half. Two, tall, big boned bitches in front of me. Pushing and shit. I swear to God, if you saw how short I am, I couldn’t even see past all the people unless I’m right up close to the stages so, omg yes. Had to stand through 40 minutes of the Mad Caddies or whatever. And then. The Maine just came on stage and started playing Right Girl. My life just then was complete. They played Listen To Your Heart, Girls Do What They Want, ‘dedicated to the beautiful girls of Australia’, Inside Of You. My Heroine, Into Your Arms <3 and finished with We’ll All Be… He said that for the five days he was in Brisbane he was walking around with a boner and he had to tape it down. It was true but it’s the thought that counts. AND OMG, WHEN HE SAID TO GRAB THE PERSON NEXT TO YOU, STICK YOUR TOUNGE OUT AND TOUCH IT TO THE PERSON’S NEXT TO YOU, IT’S OFF THE LIVE RECORDING, RECYLCING YO’ SHIT JOHN O’CALLAGHAN.
The Blackout was playing after and I kinda wanted to see them but I wanted my spot for Mayday who were playing next on this stage, so I waited. Unable to move. I sang along to Children Of The Night, and Save Ourselves. They briefly covered Whip My Hair. The only thing I didn’t like was it was too quite, so when I sang I’d be the only one, lol. Oh well.
THEN MAYDAY CAME ON, AND I SWEAR TO GOD, ONE WOULD THINK I LOVED THEM MORE THEN THE MAINE BUT THEY WERE SO GOOD.
They started playing Anywhere But Here. They played Jersey, Black Cat, Three Cheers For Five Years. Lol. When they started playing that, I was like legit, the awkward moment when they play the non-acoustic version, it even took me a second to realise because it wasn’t acoustic. And they played When I Get Home You’re So Dead, ugh, and they had their little breakdown. AND I SWEAR ON MY MOTHER’S LIFE, HE KEPT ON COMING OVER TO MY SIDE OF THE STAGE AND HE WAS LOOKING AT ME. LOL I DON’T EVEN CARE IF THERE’S A CHANCE HE WASN’T BECAUSE IT FUCKING SEEMED LIKE IT.
I met this nice girl from New Zealand that used to go to PBC, and she flew over for Soundwave. And this other nice girl shared her water with me. But there was some whore behind trying to push in front and the New Zealand chick and me kinda just looked at each other and though, you wish. She kept on hitting me in the head. Like. You can see over my head because I’m fucking short, stop hitting me with your camera arm.
And the train line were massive when we got to the Valley. Almost missed the train, we had one minute to spare. And I was with Charlotte by then. And the bitch that was hitting me was in the same carriage as me and she was talking to a blonde version of Devin Oliver and he looked like the kid that I called out at for wearing a Selfish Machines band tee, but he didn’t have it one so it might no have been him.
And I got home. And I was disgusting and smelly and I ate my school food and it was like 2 in the morning and I didn’t shower, so my bed smelt gross for a little bit because of that.
But. Just. Take me back.
That long enough for you anon. I still have post music festival syndrome and it was a week ago but it meant so much to me.
Brisbane Soundwave was fucking amazing. I am currently experiencing post music festival syndrome.
I still haven’t even showered yet. I’ve still got mine and others people sweat on me. We The Kings were amazing and so was 30STM, even though I was middle for both.
But I got second row for The Maine, I See Stars and Mayday and got a signature from Devin and a hug. I legit only saw them bands because I could be bothered walking and I didn’t eat and I got a Soundwave singlet and a purple The Maine shirt and John Oh fuckin did the same thing on the live recording with the whole touch your tongue to the persons next to you. And I got a boobies breast cancer wrist band. And I can’t even so bad when all the bands tell you that Australia’s filled with beautiful girls :3
And I’ll stop talking. For now. But lyf now complete:- •see Pierce The Veil. •see The Maine. DONE AND DONE.
